Separate business oriented website from community website.

Business side is of course leaved to the vTiger team.

Community web site: vtiger-community.com

Menu separeted in 3 parts:

1. Community

  -> vTiger/Community Team (Presentation of the whole vTiger team and community registreted contributors with roles and details)

                          -> Forums (Keep as it is now with may be an improved search engine / System to accept solution - Flag "accepted". If solution ok, insert it in Wiki)

                          -> Blogs (Keep as it is now)

Each of the next entities content must be displayed by Version, language, type(Module/Plugin/etc.),name(Sale order/Project manager/etc.),status(To be approved/approved by vTiger)

2. Users

                           -> Forge (Minimal, only summary page displayed by version, language, type, etc.)

                           -> Bug tracker (Minimal, list of bugs by version, form for users to add bug, to be approved to appear in developers tracker)

                           -> Wiki

                           -> Resources

3. Developers

                            -> Forge (Detailed)

                            -> Trac (Detailed)

                            -> Wiki

                            -> Resources

                            -> API

                            -> Database

Those are just ideas, please share your thoughts, it is good to push vTiger team for changes, but when they give space for us to participate, we, the community, have to fill the space.

4.  3rd party contributions

(remove the vtigerForge from Users) vtiger should create a platform for  contributions that destinguishes
  • 3rd party contributions that are validated by vtiger to work with the current released CRM version
    • Type 1: Open Source Contributions
    • Type 2: Commercial Contributions -> for sales (let others making money with vtiger, vtiger charges a fee to get a contribution validated and listed)
  • 3rd party contributions that suppose to work with the current released version but are not validated by vtiger
    • Type 1: Open Source Contributions
    • Type 2: Commercial Contributions -> for sales (vtiger charges a fee to get a contribution listed)
  • Open Source 3rd party contributions which do not fit to the above listings

Here are my reason why this is more effective than the vtiger forge:

- at the current forge users have a hard time to find an application that really works and is worth the time spend with, giving it some order will improve the users success and is more professional

- I am sure many users have done their own improvements to vtiger without posting it. Why not give them a platform where vtiger and those people can make some money.  If this is proper priced and full supported by vtiger I am also sure that you will motivate some contributors. I know vtiger would like to have everything as Open Source but it makes no sense to have a closed door to commercial enhancements. These contributions will be good for vtiger and contributors with Opens Source in mind will continue to post anyway.
