[edit] Unable to add users?
Ans:Please check if permissions are set correctly at the hosted environment. Check your log file which you should have access to in the control panel (or whatever admin access they provide for you). Use the filemanager (or FTP application) to check the various folders and change the permissions.
[edit] Is there a way to setup groups lets call it groupA and groupB.
Ans: You need to make all the contacts private, and then assign roles and profiles accordingly.
[edit] How do we assign accounts so that users can only see their accounts not everyone else's.
Ans:To assign accounts so that users can only see their accounts and not others', you can define the privilege for the respective roles and profiles. You need to disable the admin privileges for a particlar user so that you can restrict his privileges. Also, note that, the heirarchy of Roles determines these privileges. Typically, a superior can view the various modules of his subordinates but not the data of the users at his own level.
[edit] How can we make it in a way that standard users can not delete accounts?
Ans: To see that standard user cannot delete accounts, you can go into
Settings > Profile Privileges >viewing Standard User Profile,
Under this, you can select the accounts module and disable the Delete Privilege for this user, save this and again login using standard user name/pword to check the same.
[edit] What does Recalculate do? If I had millions of records will that impact the performance?
Ans: Yes it is, you may configure different profiles and roles.
Please have a look at the manual.http://www.vtiger-hilfe.de/vtigerdocu.html --> vtiger user and admin manuals.
Recalculate will calculate the sharing rules for all the users and write them in flat files so that data retreival will be easier and faster.
The organisation level sharing rules and the user defined custom sharing rules will be taken into account when calculating the sharing rules.
Recalcualte Sharing rules will take into account the users, roles, profiles, groups, default sharing rules and custom sharing rules.
So if the above said parameters are huge in number the recalculate sharing rules will take considerable amount of time.
Its advisable to do the recalculate sharing rules only when the number of users currently logged in is very less.
[edit] How can I make that only profile owner of a module can view it and make the authorized operations?
Ans: Under Settings > Profile Privileges > Viewing "- Profile", you can edit the permissions for respective modules and save this.
