Database Migration from SugarCRM to vtiger CRM

Migration from Sugar 4.2 to vtiger 5.0 Our community member Davide has released the Sugar 4.2 to vtiger 5.0 migration script. Please use this script to migrate from Sugar 4.2 to vtiger 5.0 and let him know the feedbacks. Hope you will not face any problems. If you face any problems then you can post in forums.

Migration tool for Sugar CRM 3.5 to vtiger 4.2

Recently vtiger team has released the Migration tool for migrating data from Open Source SugarCRM 3.5 free version to vitgerCRM 4.2. For more details about the user comments please refer to:

Data Migration Procedure

1. Download the tool from the following URL:

2. Extract the sugar35Tovtiger42Migration.zip file under vtigerCRM home directory(parallel to index.php).

Files: ( Sugar35ToVTiger42Migration.php, SugarMigration/Sugar35ToVTiger42Migrator.php, SugarMigration/VTigerMigrator.php & vtigerpatch.php )

3. Edit the Sugar35ToVTiger42Migration.php file present under the <vtigerCRM home> directory and configure the following parameter:

$sugar_root_directory //Specify the absolute path for SugarCRM directory

4. Now access the file Sugar35ToVTiger42Migration.php present under <vtigerCRM home> directory through Web browser (IE, Mozilla, etc).

Now in the webpage all the necessary details will be displayed and the database values from sugarCRM 3.5 will be migrated to vtigerCRM 4.2 version.

Note

   * In the migration process the sugarCRM 3.5 database will not be modified.
   * During the migration, first vtigerCRM 4.2 database values will be deleted and then new sugarCRM 3.5 values will be inserted.
   * After migration vtigerCRM 4.2 Patch2 will be applied automatically if you have not applied the patch already.
   * The data migration is handled only for the following modules:
         o Users
         o Leads
         o Accounts
         o Contacts
         o Potentials (Opportunities)
         o Emails
         o Calls, Meetings (In vtiger these will be in Activites)
         o Notes
         o Tasks 
   * The following functionalities has also been handled
         o Roles
         o Custom Fields
         o Picklists 

Limitations

   * In customfields, the PickList(Combo values) and TextArea has not been handled as we have some problems in these fields in sugarCRM.
   * Attachments are not supported in this migration script.
